Understanding AI

Over the past few years, Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a rapidly evolving technology that has allowed human intelligence to be replaced in a variety of sectors. This has led to concerns with many people fearing that this technology might be getting too strong. There are also concerns about how this technology could be used to diminish people’s rights and skills, especially in the entertainment industry.
AI is particularly impressive because of its capability to complete tasks that up until a few years ago would have been believed to only be available to humans. This includes generating language and solving logical problems.

There are several different ways in which AI can be trained including using labeled and unlabeled data. The impressive aspect of AI is that it can distinguish patterns in the unlabeled data provided. AI can also be trained in the same way as a young child through trial and error. When using this last model is is common to provide rewards and penalties based on the performance levels of the AI model.

In recent weeks there have been a lot of discussions about how AI can generate content that appears real and how that affects the news cycle. This content has resulted in a lot of concerns as images and videos have been emerging that are entirely constructed by AI while appearing real.
