What is Slow living!

Slow living is a lifestyle choice that has been gaining a lot of traction both online and offline over the last few years as it is predominantly focused on slowing down the pace of one’s life and being more intentional and mindful in their actions. Slow living has in large part been developed to counter the high-stress fast-paced society that the majority of people have become accustomed to. There are several keys to embracing a slow life, these include:

Mindfulness practice
One of the main principles of slow living is the idea that throughout your day you are mindful of not only all of your thoughts but also your actions. To increase your levels of mindfulness you might wish to take a few minutes every day to meditate or do other mindfulness exercises to increase your levels of awareness.

Intentionality
Apart from being mindful of your actions, thoughts, and even surroundings, it is also incredibly important that you remain intentional about your choices of where to spend your energy and time. This includes spending your time focusing on the things that actually matter and prioritizing those during your day, rather than being driven by forces outside your control

Slowness
Embrace slow living, will also mean that you will actively work to reduce your pace of living by taking the time to do tasks mindfully rather than rushing all over the place to complete everything you need to within the day. This slow approach to life will also mean that you will find moments in your day when there are no pressing tasks and you can just relax.

Simplicity
To have the option of living a slower life there are usually many things that need to go. Whether you need to declutter your space, downsize or move to a new area, or take things off of your social and work calendar, all of these steps will help simplify your life and make it possible for you to open up your time so that you can enjoy slow living.
